!!price/cost!!
Our pups average $2,500.00 each and up- we didn't have to pay stud fee, but our bitch has 2 ultrasounds and an ex-ray. Once the puppies were welped /born they go at 2 days to be checked and our bitch recieved a pitocin injection to make sure she didn't retain anything. At 2 weeks they were checked again, and started worming, 4 wks worming, 5/7weeks parvo vaccinations, 6 weeks worming and vaccinations, 8 weeks vaccinations. On top of the fact that our bitch can develop a serious case of mastitis so we would have to pull the pups early and hand raise them (which is why they got vaccinated at 5 weeks). That also means meds and vet visits for our bitch every 3-4 days for 2 weeks. Then their is nutrition. We feed our dogs a high quality grain free kibble and it runs about $100 a week- so double that for pregnancy and nursing, plus feeding the pups. We keep our pups for 8-12 weeks, depending on the pup and whether or not we think they need to stay with us a little longer.
We also send home a puppy pack that has: bag of the food they are on, collar and leash, grain free training treats, CD of puppy pics, puppy birth certificate and their ID AKC/UKC registration.
We also give a 1 year health guarentee and a genetic/congenital guarentee, 24 hr support, and will take our pups back at any time for any reason- no questions asked.
While some prices may seem steep- you need to consider everything the breeder is doing with the dogs. Often times you get what you pay for, and if you skimp- you are probably in for a lifetime of heartache on top of health and behavior issues. We also offer a payment plan for those who don't have the $$ up front.
Just remember- you get what you pay for. Besides- if you don't like the price, don't complain about it (people are not going to change their prices for you because you don't like them) look somewhere else. Find a rescue or someone who can't keep their Dogue anymore. Those dogs are more likely to be in your price range.
